How we work

Three rules cover most of it.

We look before we quote. Every estimate is done from a ladder — fascia probed, tile lifted where it needs to be, every downspout traced to where the water actually goes. Not from the driveway with a tape. The price you get is the price you pay unless we find rot or a dead drain line we couldn't have seen, and then we show you before we touch it.

We size for a Sacramento winter. Seven dry months, then 18 inches of rain in five, through the heaviest tree canopy in the state. That means 3x4 downspouts as standard, a downspout every 35–40 feet under trees, 6-inch where the roof or the tree calls for it, and extensions on every job so the water isn't sitting against the foundation from November to March.

We tell you when you don't need us. If a $200 reseal fixes it, that's what we'll sell you. If your gutters have five good winters left, we'll say so.

What to expect from any gutter company in Sacramento

Whichever one you call, us included, you should get:

• A written estimate with line items — gutter size and gauge, hanger type, downspout size and count, tile detail, fascia per foot, guards per foot, haul-away. One number on a card isn't an estimate.
• A CSLB license number on the estimate, and proof of insurance before the crew arrives.
• A crew that checks the fascia and the drainage, not just the gutter.
• Downspout extensions included, not sold as an extra.
• A water test before they leave — in September, the hose is the only test there is.
• No "today-only" price.

If you're looking for the best gutter company Sacramento has, that list is the test. A company that passes it will do a good job. One that fails two points will do the job you'll be replacing in eight years.

Licensing and insurance in California

California is one of the stricter states. Any contractor doing a job above the Contractors State License Board small-job threshold must hold a state license, and for gutters that means a C-43 sheet metal classification or a B general building license. Licensed contractors carry a contractor bond and must have workers' compensation coverage for employees. We carry ours. Ask any gutter company for their license number, check it on the CSLB site — it takes a minute and shows the bond and the workers' comp status — and walk away from anyone who won't give you one. Unlicensed crews are common here in the fall, when demand outruns the licensed ones; they're cheaper because they're carrying nothing.

What we don't do

We don't do roofing, foundation work or painting. We'll tell you when we see a cracked tile or a roof leak and you can take that to a roofer. We don't sell guards to people whose trees don't justify them, we don't walk on tile roofs, and we don't take a deposit on repairs.
